Town Councilor Michael Madore goes to Washington
Millinocket Town Councilor Michael Madore recently took a trip to Washington D.C. to take part in the 2018 LOCUS National Leadership Summit: Rebuild America’s Neighborhoods. He met with local government colleagues from all over the United States as part of the First & Main Coalition. The First & Main Coalition takes a bipartisan approach that focuses on solving problems.Their strength is also found in the diverse, yet unified voices of local leaders from all across America, from rural areas to mid-sized cities, coming together to support a comprehensive agenda that will keep driving growth and prosperity in our cities and towns.
Madore went to Washington to ask Congress and the White House to protect and strengthen proven federal programs like Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), EPA Brownfield grants, Department of Justice grants for public safety, funding to rebuild our infrastructure, and many things critical to Rural Economic Development.
While there, Mr. Madore spoke with key members of Congress and the Administration, to remind them that these critical federal investments drive growth, progress, and prosperity in our local communities. Madore spent time talking with Senator Susan Collins-Maine who is the Chair of the Transportation/Housing Appropriations Subcommittee and the Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee. He also met with Anthony Bedell- U.S. DOT Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of NY, Senator Murphy-Colorado who is on the Transportation/Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, and Senator Gardner of Connecticut who is on the Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee and the Budget Committee.
