Millinocket Commission Members
The East Millinocket/Millinocket Recreation Department and the Medway Recreation Department collaborate to offer recreation programs for the residents of all three towns, as well as have their own programming. Every season has something fun for everyone! Our department offers many programs for the youth and the young at heart in our towns. We work alongside the Millinocket Recreation Commission, and the public of both Millinocket and East Millinocket in our neighboring towns to offer a wide variety of programs. Please contact the office for a complete detailed list of activities as there may be some that are not listed on this site. These programs and activities are free unless listed otherwise.
Millinocket has a state-of-the-art swimming pool and playground, a baseball field, 2 softball fields, a basketball court, tennis courts, and a sliding hill all in the Recreation complex, located at 199 State Street. We also have Jerry Pond which has a playground, Hill Crest playground, and Little Italy playground. In East Millinocket, we have a swimming pool, playground, tennis courts, and a basketball court. These facilities are located at 45 North Street at Schenck High School.

Evening Swim: Monday, Wednesday, Friday/6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

A lifeguard training course will be offered to swimmers age 15 and older who want to become American Red Cross Lifeguards. The cost of the course is $285.00. For more information, you may contact the Recreation Department at 746-3553.
SWIMMING LESSONS
Swimming lesson registration will begin at the Millinocket Pool on TBD and at the East Millinocket Pool on TBD. If you want to register early, you can do so at the Recreation Office. Swimming lessons will begin on TBD. A fee is charged for swimming lessons as follows:
One Child – $15.00
Two Children – $25.00
Three Children – $30.00
A scholarship program is available for individuals or families who need help with the fee.

Katahdin Pride Park / Millinocket Swimming pool

The Millinocket pool and bathhouse were designed by Patric Santerre of ARCADIA Designworks with help from CES Engineers of Brewer and D&S Engineering, a local Millinocket firm. The pool was designed to be sustainable and many of the materials were regionally produced.

The pool won an Honor Award from the Pennsylvania Council Society of American Registered Architects in 2008. -
It was mentioned by judges from Maine’s chapter of the American Institute of Architects as being a “huge signpost for a small community”.
The design was inspired by wood as a nod to Millinocket’s storied forest products industry. The designer pictured how a round log will lay flat once it’s split in two. The bathhouse features a rounded metal roof and it has extensive skylights, there is a limited need for artificial lighting, even on overcast days. The windows have hinged shutters that provide a nice natural light in the morning, ventilation for damp areas and when they are opened they cast shadows that provide shade to the removable benches located underneath. The architect collected colorful, round stones from Millinocket Stream and Turtle’s Pit which they had the contractor Sullivan and Merritt embed into the pool deck serving as the prewash shower basin. They wanted to pay tribute to Millinocket’s original swimming hole.
The pool has been a huge success for young and old residents since day one. Lifeguards on duty. It features a kiddie pool, a 5ft deep intermediate pool, and a 4 lane 12 ft deep pool with a diving board with a slide. The pool also has outside showers, shady spots, is fenced in and next to the playground.
