The General Assistance program is intended to assist people who are in need and have no other resources available to them. G.A. provides assistance for basic necessities such as rent, food, personal and household supplies, medication, heating fuel, utilities and other essential services. All assistance granted is in voucher form and no cash assistance is granted. A written decision must be issued to the client within 24 hours of seeking assistance. Please call for an appointment.

LIHEAP APPLICATIONS (FUEL ASSISTANCE)
Penquis Heating Assistance Applications are taken by appointment beginning the week of September 4th,2018. The initial appointments are booked for households who have with children under 2 and older than 60, who were approved last year and whose heat is not included in their rental costs. If you meet this criteria, watch for a yellow appointment card in the mail. If you can not make that appointment date, please call to reschedule.
